Abstract

Features of Moscow's economic performance are considered, the position of a Russian megacity in the system of the world largest megacities is shown, problems of imbalance of the capital's economy are revealed. Econometric models are presented which show that Moscow, in economic respect, «has outgrown itself» and entered a destructive mode of development. Estimations of further evolution of the Russian capital are given within the framework of two basically different development scenarios
