Abstract

Active ageing and health in Europe: the ActivAge project - This article the former provides an overview of the ageing process in progress in contemporary societies. The so-called "new demographic regime", characterized by low birth and mortality rates, is a global phenomenon and, as we know, it is particularly evident in Europe as a whole and especially in the four south European countries. Addresses the issue of active ageing as a decisive political solution to the problems of (un-)sustainability of welfare systems. Based on the results achieved by the project called ActivAge, the article outlines both the terms of a policy for active ageing and the paths and obstacles that emerge from a comparison between countries. Keywords: Demographic transition, active ageing, health, health care, public policies. Parole chiave: invecchiamento demografico, anzianit? attiva, salute, assistenza sanitaria, politiche pubbliche.
