Abstract

Note: [English Title] ALFRED MARSHALL, JOHN MAYNARD KEYNES AND THE RELATION BETWEEN ‘ECONOMICS AND ETHICS’ [English Abstract] The aim of this paper is to explore the relation between economics and ethics, and to discuss ideas of Alfred Marshall and John Maynard Keynes on ethics. In the paper, it is shown that many of the academicians admit the relation between economics and ethics. Besides, both Marshall and Keynes admit that there is a relation between economics and ethics. Moreover both for them, there is an obvious role of the ethics in order to defi ne the problems of economics. Finally, in the paper it is depicted that, while Keynes uses ethics in order to answer to the question that how can capitalist market mechanism maintain its existence, Marshall claims that capitalist progress, in itself, provides also ethical progress and this process occurs due to the transmutation of the human nature from one form to another.
