Note: [English Title] AN APPLICATION OF A WORLD SYSTEM'S MODEL FOR ASSESSING GLOBAL INCOME DISTRIBUTION AND THE PHENOMENA OF RISING CHINA [English Abstract] Whether globalization causes convergence or polarization has long been discussed. On the other hand, the improvement of China has also become another discussion matter. It is argued that either China is just one of the subcontracted countries, which is preferred by multinationals because of its cheap labor advantages or taking giant steps towards becoming the new hegemonic power in the coming decades. In this paper, in the light of the data on manufactured goods trade since 1990, globalization will be questioned. It will be examined whether China’s position in the hierarchy of the World System has changed or not. Also with a model in accord to the World Systems Theory, the gap between rich and poor countries will be examined. [English Keywords] Globalization, China, Marginalization, World System, Polarization
