Note: [English Title] Social Movements and Proletarian Public Sphere [English Abstract] The discussions on the public sphere have fairly increased especially after 1980s. At these discussions, the issue of the place and function of the social movements in public sphere has always been important. This study is an attempt to comprehend the relationship between the notion of proletarian public sphere and the social movements. While it can be said that Habermasian public sphere notion is hegemonic, singular, autonomous, national and overarching, conversely, the social movements can create alternative/counter or proletarian public spheres, therefore, there are multiplicity of publics. An proletarian public sphere can be effective the alliances between the social movements based on class and the social movements based on culture/identity. [English Keywords] Bourgeois Liberal Public Sphere, Proletarian Public Sphere, Old and New Social Movements
