Note: [English Title] Not available [English Abstract] Stock markets are the places where firms obtain external resources which they need. Firms constitute the party demanding the loanable funds in these markets. The fundamental sources of supply of loanable funds is the saving in the economy. Unlike other instruments of savings, stocks hold risky and variable returns. Thus, the knowledge of risk and profit related to stockss for the savers is important to attract new resources into these markets. In this respect the ratings of firms has come to the agenda. There are several methods and criteria us ed in the rating of firms. In this paper, a rating of firms has been realized by employing the data for balance sheets of companies registered to Istanbul Stock Exchange within the framework of multivariate statistical analysis; specifıcally, factor analysis.
