Note: [English Title] PATTERNS OF DEVELOPMENT IN SOME NEWLY INDUSTRIALIZING COUNTRIES, 1950-1990 [English Abstract] This paper has more than one aim. The main aim is to look for empirical regularities in the experience of newly industrializing countries (NICs) which may support the hypothesis of a transition from an agrarian economy to industrial one as countries develop.More specifically, we attempt to find out cross-country n orms for the basic processes of development which heavily depend on per capita ineome levels in order to identify patterns of development in NICs. In other words, the "average" or "normal" patterns of development are determined for NICs to understand their structural transformatian in general. Furthermore, the determination of patterns of development for NICs creates an opportunity to make comparisons with the Chenery-Syrquin norms identified for all the countries in order to concern the diversity in the direction and sequencing of structural changes that NICs have followed. The ultimate aim is to analyse the development experience of Turkey during the period 1950-1995 depending on the patterns of development in NICs. [English Keywords] Not available
