La integración regional centroamericana en ciencia, tecnología e innovación: un nuevo desafío

Abstract

Este artículo identifica las capacidades institucionales y productivas adquiridas en varios países de Centroamérica, que fomentan la interacción nacional y crean condiciones favorables para lograr acuerdos que contribuyan a la integración regional en ciencia, tecnología e innovación. Las incipientes redes impulsadas por las políticas nacionales, las instituciones de educación superior, los centros de investigación y los agentes productivos de la región pueden contribuir a una nueva gobernanza que impulse la formación de un sistema regional de innovación. Para acrecentar la interacción nacional que apoye el desarrollo de un capital social y cognitivo regional en ciencia, tecnología e innovación es fundamental construir una agenda de trabajo conjunta y colaborativa que oriente la creación de instrumentos de financiamiento para nuevas actividades, además de estimular la consolidación de un entorno institucional capaz de fortalecer las capacidades de absorción de conocimientos y la articulación entre la ciencia y el sector productivo regional, para generar un proceso sostenido de innovación.
