El turismo comunitario, un modelo de economía popular y solidaria como solución al desempleo rural en Ecuador

Abstract

Esta investigación se centra en la relación entre el turismo comunitario y la Economía Popular y Solidaria como una estrategia para generar empleo y una posible solución de problemas de exclusión social y marginación de la mujer en el área rural. Se trata de un estudio que se centra en Ecuador, donde desde 1980 se han desarrollado emprendimientos de turismo comunitario en las zonas agrarias. El objetivo de esta actividad económica, aparte de la generación de ingresos, ha sido la resistencia a la explotación petrolera y maderera en un contexto marcado por la globalización. De ahí que bajo el concepto de “nueva ruralidad†se engloben las transformaciones en las áreas rurales ecuatorianas, en las que se está desarrollando el turismo comunitario, una alternativa económica para las comunidades enmarcada en la Ley de la Economía Popular y Solidaria. Una norma jurídica que apuesta por la participación comunitaria, la generación de beneficios, la conservación de los recursos naturales y culturales y el buen vivir.
