Turismo Nuclear: da Tragédia à Aventura

Abstract

O turismo nuclear é sinónimo de um número relativamente escasso de estudos académicos ou científicos, apesar de, em alguns casos, já existir desde o meado do século XX, e estar integrado no designado turismo negro. A presente proposta de reflexão está organizada em duas partes principais: a primeira corresponde a uma abordagem concetual, com base em literatura especializada (com destaque para dissertações, artigos de revistas e jornais), com o propósito de explicitar o contexto, significado e desenvolvimento desta atividade turística; a segunda diz respeito a uma componente empírica mediante a apresentação de seis exemplos de turismo nuclear pelo mundo (Bikini Atoll, Chernobyl, Fukushima, Hiroshima e Nagasaki, Nevada Test Site e, por fim, Oak Ridge), a qual explora também os websites oficiais dos lugares analisados, especificamente concebidos para a consulta de turistas e potenciais visitantes, com descrições sobre as tours disponíveis, por exemplo.
