Análisis de las motivaciones hacia el ecoturismo en Ecuador. Un estudio de caso en la Isla Santay

Abstract

Ecuador es un país que se está convirtiendo en un destino de importancia para realizar ecoturismo en áreas naturales protegidas. En este artículo presentamos un trabajo de campo realizado en la isla Santay (Ecuador) durante el año 2015, los resultados permiten determinar las características del turista que visita la isla, de tal suerte que se puede determinar el perfil sociodemográfico de los turistas que la visitan y permiten conocer las motivaciones que han tenido para visitarla. Destaca el eco-turista joven con nivel de educación superior que busca los espacios novedosos que le permitan desconectarse de lo cotidiano en un entorno que permita el contacto con la naturaleza. Se busca, mediante esta discusión, fomentar reflexiones y orientación a la gestión turística en el diseño y planificación de tácticas que promuevan directa e indirectamente la actividad mediante estrategias coherentes al tipo de turista que asiste y sus motivaciones.
