Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de los antecedentes constitucionales de la conformación de las cámaras legislativas en México. Se busca abonar al análisis de la reforma constitucional en materia electoral que presentó el presidente de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador en abril de 2022, ante la Cámara de Diputados del Congreso de la Unión y que fue rechazada por la misma Cámara en diciembre de 2022. Esta propuesta consistía en un rediseño profundo de las instituciones democráticas en México, con base en el argumento de su ilegitimidad y del derroche del gasto público. Entre otros ítems, se encontraba el planteamiento de reducir el 40 por ciento de los diputados federales, el 25 por cierto de los senadores y el 41 por cierto de legisladores locales.
