Reseña. Las Visiones De Una Bruja Guachichil En 1599: Hacia Una Perspectiva Indígena Sobre La Conquista De San Luis Potosí

Abstract

Durante el último cuarto del siglo XVI el tránsito de pobladores, empresarios y mineros se intensificó en el camino real de México a Zacatecas, lo que impulsó la multiplicación de estancias agrícolas y ganaderas. De este modo, el establecimiento de las rutas de comercio hacia el septentrión novohispano hizo inevitable el contacto con zacatecos, guachichiles, cazcanes, tepehuanes y otros pueblos (Sego, 1998). De acuerdo con las crónicas españolas, los indeseables guachichiles y zacatecos no tardaron en asaltar las caravanas, además quemaron iglesias, saquearon puestos de provisiones y martirizaron a los religiosos enviados para conseguir su conversión.
