La Situación Actual De Los Herbarios En México: Problemas Y Desafíos

Abstract

Los herbarios conservan la materia prima para el desarrollo del conocimiento sobre las plantas. Su función resulta desconocida para la mayoría de la población, lo cual se traduce en infrautilización de la información que se genera, dificultando la obtención de apoyo económico para realizar sus actividades. Se presenta una problemática común respecto al espacio físico, material en espera de ser procesado, falta de personal y equipo de cómputo entre otros. Es importante dar a conocer el trabajo que se realiza así como estimular el uso de la información sobre los ejemplares de la colección; pero es más relevante que la información generada sea confiable, esté disponible y actualizada, lo que implica revisar detalladamente las actividades para identificar aquéllas susceptibles de mejora. Por medio de revisión de literatura, aplicación de cuestionarios y entrevistas, se presenta un panorama de la situación de los principales herbarios en México.
