Antecedentes de la división territorial de México

Abstract

El presente trabajo retoma la primera parte del trabajo de Edmundo O'Gorman sobre la Historia de las divisiones territoriales de México, con la intensión de orientar el mismo hacia la visión de la planeación político - económica regional, estableciendo el mismo como su antecedente y rescatando en síntesis la evolución que observa la división política del territorio para usos de facto o hecho (demográficos, económicos o fiscales), y de estado o derecho o de jure (políticos, de administración pública), desde el periodo virreinal a inicios del periodo independiente, retomando consideraciones dadas desde las Audiencias de gobierno del siglo XVI, la creación de provincias e intendencias, de gobernación, comandancia, capitanía general, principalmente.
