Abstract

El presente artículo plantea una panorámica de uno de los conceptos más polémicos y controvertidos de la actualidad –el multiculturalismo– a partir de una revisión básica de sus coordenadas histórico-culturales y de sus autores más significativos. La coyuntura de grave contracción económica mundial por la que transitamos y las posibles connotaciones proteccionistas que podrían derivarse de la misma, hacen todavía más sugestiva la revisión de uno de los referentes culturales esenciales del Occidente en el último tercio del Siglo XX.
