Abstract

En Misión de la Universidad en nuestros días: un enfoque interdisciplinar. Libro homenaje al profesor Luis Gutiérrez Espada (Bueno, 2018), donde se encuentra este artículo, comenzaba recordando algo que debería ser obvio pero que hace mucho tiempo ha sido olvidado. La universidad, institución genuinamente europea en su origen y, por eso, profundamente vinculada a la civilización occidental, nace de la importancia que esa civilización –la nuestra– concedió siempre al saber, lo que le llevó a crear espacios donde este pudiera progresar de la manera más adecuada y autónoma.
