Abstract

Cuando el Cardenal Ratzinger, a la sazón Prefecto de la Congregación para la Doctrina de la Fe, fue elegido sucesor de Juan Pablo II, fueron no pocas las voces que lamentaron lo que parecía un retroceso en la Iglesia Católica, una vuelta a los tiempos anteriores al Concilio Vaticano II. Los hechos, sin embargo, no parecen confirmar los vaticinios más agoreros, basados muchas veces en la ignorancia y en un prejuicio tan fundamentalista como aquel que se dice combatir. Benedicto XVI no es un renovador, pero resulta evidente que su papado no se está caracterizando en esencia por una regresión doctrinal de la Iglesia.
