Caracterización clínico-epidemiológica de los adultos mayores centenarios del municipio Banes. Enero 2015-diciembre 2018

Abstract

Introducción: Como resultado de la menor fecundidad y el aumento de la longevidad, las poblaciones de los países envejecen rápidamente. Cuba es el segundo país más envejecido de la región y también lo será en el 2050 y 2100, el número de personas de más edad es creciente y los individuos que alcanzan 100 años aumentan gradualmente. Objetivo: caracterizar desde el punto de vista clínico-epidemiológico a los adultos mayores centenarios del municipio de Banes, provincia Holguín. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo en el período de Enero del 2015 a Diciembre del 2018. Se estudiaron las variables grupos de edad, sexo, antecedentes patológicos personales, situación social, evaluación, funcional y evaluación nutricional. Resultados: El 53,3% fueron los centenarios femeninos de 100 a 104 años, la hipertensión arterial en un 73,3% y las cardiopatías con 53,3% de los antecedentes patológicos predominantes, el 86,6% con buena situación social, según evaluación funcional el 53,3% con alteraciones en actividades instrumentadas de la vida diaria y bien nutridos el 93,3%. Conclusiones: Es necesario dotar a los profesionales de la salud de la adecuada formación en geriatría y gerontología e impulsar el desarrollo continuo de los servicios sociales integrales que permitan el envejecimiento digno.
