Los actores de la distribución comercial en turismo y viajes. GDS y CRS. Mitos y realidades

Abstract

Como parte de la investigación que llevamos a cabo sobre la distribución comercial de productos de viajes y turismo, en particular el caso del destino Cuba, presento el presente estudio sobre los actores que realizan la distribución. Pretendemos definir los que son propiamente intermediarios comerciales, del resto de las empresas y organizaciones que intervienen en esta variable del marketing de una de las primeras ramas de la economía mundial y la segunda por su peso en el PIB de Cuba. Se persigue establecer el rol objetivo que juega cada uno de los participantes en el canal de distribución de productos de viajes y turismo. El presente artículo se centra en los llamados CRS y GDS, estos últimos verdaderos gigantes tecnológicos cuyo papel clave previo y durante la aparición de Internet tiende a distorsionarse en la literatura dedicada al turismo, incluyendo la académica.
