Elementos teórico-metodológicos en torno a la soberanía y seguridad alimentaria y nutricional y la cooperación regional

Abstract

El combate a la pobreza y la erradicación del hambre constituyen desafíos fundamentales de gobiernos y organismos internacionales, ante un escenario global en el que las personas afectadas por este flagelo ascienden a 815 millones, según estimaciones de la FAO en su informe de 2017 sobre el Estado de la Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional, SAN. En América Latina y el Caribe ocurrieron avances notables en el periodo 2000-2016 durante el cual la prevalencia de la subalimentación descendió de 12% a 6.6%. Las políticas de SAN implementadas en países como Bolivia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, entre otros, influyeron en dicho logro. En el Caribe, sobresalen los esfuerzos en el caso de Cuba, aunque la prevalencia en la subregión es de 18% en este mismo periodo.
