Ley Nacional de Salud Mental N° 26.657: sobre los derechos humanos y los derechos de familia

Abstract

Las personas con discapacidad mental y/o psicosocial, han sido históricamente sujetos de discriminación y vulneración de derechos en los ámbitos jurídicos, social, personal y familiar. En Argentina uno de cada tres personas presenta un problema de Salud Mental a partir de los 20 años. Argentina se convirtió en ejemplo a nivel mundial, referente de leyes para el trato de personas con sufrimiento o padecimiento mental, término usado por primera vez por el país para primero, reconocer a las personas con y en sus derechos, y segundo, despatologizar los padecimientos mentales, en un sentido que permita alternar los tratamientos, tomando en cuenta todas las opciones psico-terapéuticas posibles, más allá del uso exclusivo y posible abuso de psicofármacos y exigiendo a los servicios una respuesta interdisciplinaria.
