Comportamiento del estado periodontal y nivel de información sobre salud bucal en pacientes mayores de 15 años del área zaza del medio. 2017

Abstract

Las afecciones periodontales están catalogadas entre las más comunes del género humano y constituyen una causa frecuente de morbilidad y mortalidad dentaria. Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal para caracterizar el comportamiento del estado periodontal y nivel de información sobre salud bucal en pacientes mayores de 15 años del área Zaza del Medio del municipio de Taguasco en el período comprendido entre julio y diciembre del 2017. La muestra estuvo constituida por 104 pacientes, los cuales fueron escogidos al azar en consultas realizadas en el terreno y luego fueron citados para aplicarle los diferentes instrumentos de estudio. Se tuvieron en cuenta variables como edad, sexo, estado periodontal, higiene bucal y nivel de información sobre salud bucal. Los resultados reflejaron predominio de grupo etáreo de 65 y más años, siendo el sexo femenino el más representativo. Predominaron los pacientes con Gingivitis para un 71.2 % y el grupo más afectado fue el de 25-34 años con 87.5 %; el grado de higiene bucal y el nivel de información sobre salud buco dental resultaron deficientes en la mayoría de los pacientes, lo que contribuyó al acúmulo de placa dentobacteriana y sarro estimulando la aparición y gravedad de las afecciones periodontales.
