Filhos e interprétes dos pais surdos: Necessidade de serem mediadores

Abstract

O objetivo desta pesquisa é reconhecer a importância dos CODAs (Child of Deaf Adults) como interpretes, pois se percebeu a necessidade de mais estudos neste grupo, que tem muito a contribuir, sendo ouvintes filhos de surdos, com sua condição bicultural e bilíngue. Por serem ouvintes, muitas vezes, precisaram ser interpretes de seus pais no mundo sonoro, assim, o objetivo deste artigo é ressaltar o papel dos CODAs no processo de inclusão de seus pais na sociedade. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa qualitativa de cunho bibliográfico de autores como Pereira (2013), Quadros (1997) e Fernandes (2012). Além de uma breve pesquisa sobre a história dos surdos, também foi realizada uma sobre os CODAs contando com o apoio do relato de uma pessoa CODA. Enfim, percebeu-se que muito foi alcançado pela comunidade surda, principalmente o reconhecimento da Libras, mas ainda há necessidade de os filhos de surdos acompanharem seus pais, pois falta interpretes em locais públicos.
