Asociación entre origen ancestral y bajos niveles de HDL en una población con alto mestizaje

Abstract

México cuenta con una gran prevalencia de dislipidemias, siendo las bajas concentraciones de colesterol HDL (Lipoproteínas de Alta Densidad) una de las más frecuentes. Esta patología, también llamada hipoalfalipoproteinemia (40 mg/dL) supone un aumento del riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares. La población mexicana se ha caracterizado por su elevado mestizaje, con un porcentaje de ancestralidad amerindia del 66%, así como europea del 32% y africana del 2% aproximadamente, encontrado en estudios previos. Tomando en cuenta la complejidad de esta mezcla ancestral, la población mexicana es ideal para esclarecer los efectos genéticos, sociales y ambientales en los eventos de la salud en las diferentes poblaciones.
