Condições socioeconomicas e ambientais de um projeto de assentamento extrativista no arquipélago do Marajó

Abstract

Os assentamentos extrativistas foram criados pelo Governo Federal visando melhorar as condições socioeconômicas e a conservação dos recursos naturais das comunidades tradicionais do Arquipélago do Marajó, Brasil. Um estudo de caso foi realizado no projeto de Assentamento Ilha de Santo Amaro II, com o objetivo de analisar as condições socioeconômicas e ambientais da comunidade local a partir da criação do PAE. Segundo os entrevistados, ocorreram melhorias significativas na infraestrutura, economia e na preservação dos recursos naturais. No entanto, o que se pode perceber é que as melhorias são vistas por uma comunidade que vivia em condições precárias de sobrevivência, porém, há muito que se melhorar, como, saneamento básico, educação e gestão por parte do poder público.
