Salud mental: demanda de atención psicológica en la población

Abstract

Mantener una buena salud mental es uno de los grandes retos de la población actual; cuando existe algún desequilibrio, es necesaria la búsqueda de profesionales que acompañen a mitigar los mismos. El artículo tiene como objetivo identificar la prevalencia de demanda de atención psicológica en los habitantes de la ciudad de Portoviejo. La investigación es cuanti - cualitativa, se aplicó una encuesta a 264 habitantes entre 18 y 45 años de la ciudad Portoviejo y entrevista a 10 Psicólogos Clínicos; como resultado se pudo constatar que la población presenta una demanda latente de dificultades relacionadas con la salud mental; sin embargo, no logra reconocer la existencia de las mismas y por ende no busca la intervención de un profesional en el área. Este trabajo evidencia la necesidad de educar a las personas en temas de prevención y promoción de salud mental con la finalidad de lograr el bienestar individual y social.
