Abordagem funcional da língua e a abordagem funcional da gramática vista por Givón

Abstract

No presente artigo busco apresentar pontos importantes sobre os fenômenos gramaticais da abordagem funcional apresentadas por Givón (2001) em sua obra Syntax An Introduction, mais precisamente no capítulo The functional approach to language and the typological approach to gramar. O objetivo dessa revisão bibliográfica é apresentar alguns dos principais pontos que o referido autor traz sobre a abordagem funcional da língua e a abordagem funcional da gramatica, cotejado com obras de alguns autores como Chomsky (1961, 1965), Greenberg (1966a, 1966b, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1979), Hopper (1987), Sapir (1921) e Jespersen (1965).
