La densidad urbana y su influencia en los viajes a pie

Abstract

Esta investigación presenta un estudio desarrollado en la ciudad de Brasilia, con el objetivo de identificar como la densidad urbana de una ciudad planificada puede acabar influenciado las decisiones de las personas por realizar viajes a pie. Para alcanzar este objetivo fue utilizado un modelo tradicional de elección discreta denominado Logit Binomial que es un caso del modelo logit multinomial. Fueron utilizadas dos variables de utilidad en relación a la elección de viajes; i) los viajes a pie y ii) los demás medios de transporte (incluyen en esta: vehículos particulares, motos, bicicletas, buses, metro, etc.). El modelo identifico una cierta utilidad dada por la densidad urbana sobre los individuos a la hora de tomar una decisión. Las conclusiones generales de este estudio permiten apoyar la hipótesis de la relación existente entre la densidad urbana - transporte y la influencia sobre los viajes a pie.
