Las Cátedras Universitarias del Adulto Mayor: una oportunidad para el empoderamiento individual en la adultez

Abstract

Cuba, enfrascado en la batalla de ideas, se comporta con indicadores poblacionales como los de los países más desarrollados, la esperanza de vida ha aumentado y las tazas de natalidad disminuyen, por lo que la población adulta se hace cada vez mayor. Constituye una necesidad posibilitar su advenimiento más sano y feliz y proporcionar en esas épocas de cambio una cultura de crecimiento personal, empoderar su individualidad. En este sentido los programas de las Cátedras Universitarias del Adulto Mayor tienen el objetivo de contribuir a la calidad de vida de este grupo etáreo. La ponencia que se presenta ejemplifica cómo se ha empoderado en los 3 últimos años la adulta rodense, a partir del programa de extensión universitaria, donde la mujer ocupa el 72 % de la matrícula.
