Abstract

La gestión pública de turismo en el nivel municipal puede influenciar la gestión pública del turismo y el nivel de competitividad del sector por medio de la participación efectiva de la sociedad civil y de la formulación de políticas públicas coherentes con la realidad local. Este estudio presenta un panorama contemporáneo sobre el turismo en la ciudad de Itanhaém (provincia de São Paulo, sureste de Brasil) en el sentido de promover la reflexión sobre la gestión de espacios turísticos. El artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el proyecto de reurbanización de la costanera de la región central histórica del municipio de Itanhaém. Se trata un trecho contiguo de 2 km, que se inicia en el Río Itanhaém. ¿Cómo se constituyen las implicaciones socio ambientales del Proyecto sobre la calidad ambiental y del uso turístico de la costanera de la región central histórica de Itanhaém? Con el fin responder ese problema fue realizada una investigación bibliográfica, documental y de registro fotográfico del área analizada. Este estudio de caso se caracteriza como cualitativo de naturaleza exploratoria. Como resultado fue posible verificar que la obra carece de mejorías estructurales y de comercio fue directamente beneficiado por la mejora de la infraestructura urbana de la localidad.
