Abstract

El propósito del presente artículo es destacar la importancia social de las políticas públicas municipales de fomento al deporte y la activación física; para ello se presentan indicadores nacionales asociados a la inactividad física, el sedentarismo y la obesidad; al mismo tiempo se caracterizan los programas de activación física tanto nacionales como del estado de Oaxaca; se describe además la experiencia municipal del Programa Actívate a través de zumba en el municipio de Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca; y se plantea una propuesta de activación física para los jóvenes del municipio de Ciudad Ixtepec, Oaxaca, considerando la experiencia del municipio de Juchitán e información empírica recabada entre jóvenes de la localidad.
