Abstract

Este trabajo pone al hogar como el escenario principal del maltrato infantil en México, aspecto contrario a la concepción proveedora de seguridad emocional, alimentaria, jurídica y económica, derechos inalienables de los menores de edad. Los hogares de grandes y medianas ciudades como Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, constituyen el espacio de violencia física y emocional hacia los infantes. Se encuentra que en dicha ciudad, la proliferación de hogares disfuncionales principalmente por el alcoholismo de uno o ambos padres, es la causa principal del maltrato. La iniciativa estatal “Escuela para Padres†, programa de intervención para prevenir casos de maltrato infantil y que se lleva a cabo en los centros de formación de niños y en instituciones de salud del estado de Jalisco, ha contribuido de manera positiva en la reducción de gritos, amenazas y exhibición de los padres hacia los menores. Se exponen en el presente trabajo los resultados de aplicar 406 encuestas que representan un universo potencial de poco más de 75,000 usuarios de un Centro de Salud Urbano.
