Eventos culturais e autenticidade

Abstract

A autenticidade em eventos culturais tem sido objecto de estudo e reflexão em alguns estudos académicos. Cidades e vilas organizam cada vez mais eventos culturais, nomeadamente de carácter tradicional, para melhorarem a imagem do seu destino e captarem mais turistas nacionais e internacionais para as suas regiões. De facto, os eventos culturais com características autênticas não só valorizam o património cultural de uma região, mas também contribuem para o seu desenvolvimento turístico. No entanto, muitos desses eventos apresentam uma autenticidade encenada, o que pode ser rejeitado pela comunidade anfitriã ou pelos turistas com fortes motivações culturais. Mas também, e o no caso dos turistas, a autenticidade num evento vai depender do entendimento que eles têm da cultura que visitam.
