Abstract

No período recente, os gastos governamentais com as políticas de transferências para a Assistência Social aumentaram, em valores reais e em percentuais do produto interno bruto (PIB). Porém as gritantes desigualdades na distribuição de renda continuam sendo um problema crônico na sociedade brasileira. Este estudo surgiu do questionamento acerca do impacto do Programa Bolsa Família sobre a diminuição da pobreza no estado do Tocantins durante o período de 2004 a 2014.
