Abstract

El presente trabajo da cuenta de la lucha social multisecular femenina por acceder a la práctica médica, desde el siglo XXVIII AC hasta inicios del siglo XX, a través de una sucinta reseña histórica. Intenta, así, mantener viva en la memoria a muchas de las que, prohibidas, perseguidas, ocultas, travestidas, traicionadas o luchando por su reconocimiento e incorporación a dicha práctica, contribuyeron, directa y/o indirectamente, al mejoramiento médico. En la actualidad, transitando la segunda década del siglo XXI, a pesar de ser mayoría en las admisiones y graduaciones médicas y de haber conquistado lugares dentro de la práctica profesional y de la gestión institucional otrora vedados, su porfía continúa.
