Abstract

El desarrollo tecnológico avanza a pasos agigantados y las empresas necesitan tomar medidas para poder evolucionar al ritmo necesario. Con el surgimiento y expansión de la Internet de las Cosas y de la Internet de Todo, el volumen de datos que fluye desde y hacia los servidores empresariales crece exponencialmente al igual que la cantidad de aplicaciones informáticas que se desarrollan. Como consecuencia aumenta la cantidad y variedad de servidores y surge la necesidad de virtualizar el DataCenter para obtener beneficios como: escalabilidad, flexibilidad, funcionamiento ininterrumpido, salvas de la información, rápida recuperación de desastres y ahorros en mantenimiento, electricidad y sistemas de enfriamiento. El presente artículo hace un estudio de las ventajas de virtualizar el DataCenter en las universidades, que por sus características propias están en constante evolución para formar profesionales capacitados para dominar este nuevo mundo informatizado. La creación de laboratorios virtuales para la docencia o la fase de prueba de nuevos software, así como, la posibilidad de crear escritorios virtuales para que los estudiantes tengan un espacio personalizado y accesible desde cualquier dispositivo conectado a la red; son algunos de los beneficios que alcanzan los centros de educación superior que virtualizan su DataCenter.
