Actualización sobre diagnóstico y tratamiento del Bruxismo

Abstract

Objetivo: Realizar una actualizacion bibliográfica sobre el bruxismo con fines didácticos e investigativos. Alcance de la Investigación: Se compiló literatura que plantea diversas interrogantes sobre la etiologia del el bruxismo y propone tratamientos de acuerdo con esas etiologías, pero se precisa que los estudios aun son insuficientes y que es necesario investigar mas sobre el bruxismo. Material y Métodos: La revisión bibliografica consta de 33 artículos de tipo científico sobre el bruxismo que lo definen, discuten su etiología y proponen tipos de tratamiento, recopilados en forma manual y electrónica, bajo criterios de inclusión establecidos previamente y analizados según parámetros que conllevan a clasificarlos en diferentes niveles de evidencia. Resultados: El análisis de los artículos resalta que existen diversos tratamientos para el bruxismo atendiendo a su etiología más probable. De acuerdo con algunos resultados actuales es posible controlar bruxismo, aunque se necesite investigar más sobre este tema. Conclusiones: El bruxismo presenta una polémica etiología que incluye factores oclusales y psicológicos. Se plantean diversos tratamientos para el bruxismo según su etiología y algunos resultados actuales afirman que es posible controlarlo.
