Abstract

La reseña de Sydney Weintraub es muy útil porque cubre los estudios principales y el trabajo de modelación de mayor influencia. Hay inevitablemente un alto grado de traslape con la reseña de Drusilla Brown, como se advertirá en mi comentario. Destaco lo que puede aprenderse al comparar los resultados de diferentes enfoques, y completo esta comparación con la introducción de otra corriente de investigación; es decir, lo que puede aprenderse acerca de los efectos potenciales del TLC, de acuerdo con la experiencia mexicana, en el campo de la liberalización del comercio y de la inversión desde mediados de los años ochenta. Se ha señalado que el TLC tendrá muy probablemente un efecto incremental superior a lo que ya se ha logrado en México con la política de desarrollo.
