Abstract

In this work we analyzed the relationship between dimension, financial profitability and technical efficiency of the bank companies in Spain. The analysis is carried out by the use of multivariant technicals, analysis factorial and analysis cluster to establish groups of bank companies with homogeneous dimension. The methodology in use is non parametric, the data envelopment analysis (DEA), to obtain the coefficient of technical efficiency of each bank company. In addition, there is studied the influence of every company evaluated like efficient on the analyses of efficiency before realized with the aim to detect if there exists some financial institution (bank) that affects in a special way to the results. Also bootstrap is used in order to obtaining confidence intervals of the average efficiency and medium efficiency of the bank system. Finally the existence of relation is analyzed among the dimension of the bank, the financial profitability and the estimations of technical efficiency. The used information fits to 82 Spanish banks (36 banks and 45 savings banks) that configure the whole amount of the commercial.// En este trabajo se analiza la relación entre dimensión, rentabilidad financiera y eficiencia técnica de las entidades bancarias en España.
