Abstract

Introducción. En breve lapso el Brasil se convirtió en uno de los productores de armamento defensivo más grande del mundo. En 1978 el Brasil era el quinto exportador más grande del mundo y el segundo productor de armas más grande entre los países de industrialización reciente(PIR)(Olhson y Skons, 1987). En este trabajo se afirma que las raíces del rápido desarrollo de la industria brasileña de la defensa(IBD) residen en el armonioso trípode orquestado por el gobierno brasileño y en el vital papel de las compañias trasnacionales(CT). Medainte su interacción con el sectro privado brasileño y con las subsidarias de las CT el Estado reunió el apoyo político, un abasto de fondos, la capacidad manufacturera y la tecnología vitales para todo intento de formación de una industria nacional de la defensa...
