Abstract

Climate change will affect the global and also the Spanish energy sector, both directly and indirectly. Thus, climate change will directly induce changes in energy demand, or alterations in the operation of production plants. But it will also affect the availability of water or other resources, which in turn will influence the supply and demand of energy. This article proposes a conceptual framework to analyse these direct and indirect impacts, reviews international literature, presents estimates applicable to the Spanish context, and formulates proposals for the adaptation of this strategic sector.
