Abstract

The links between budgetary and equality policies of the public sector have become stronger in the last decades along the world. In this article, we´ll focus on the main objectives that have pursued these processes of embedding a gender perspective within the budgetary analyses, as well as the main methodologies used in their implementation. Next, a summary of the European experiences will be outlined, highlighting the initiatives carried out within the Basque Autonomous Community, due to its pioneer character within the Spanish state. The article finishes with a mention to some of the main challenges that this strategy has to face due mainly to the resistances that a patriarchal social order arises when these initiatives are proposed in many public administrations.
