Abstract

This paper analyzes the impact of intangible assets in labor productivity growth in Spain over the period 1995-2007 using a new database that contains the breakdown of 24 industries of 11 intangible assets. Growth accounting and econometric estimates of expanded production function are used to estimate the effect on growth of both intangibles and ICT assets. Both the complementary role of ICT and intangible assets and the existence of spillovers on the other sectors are explored. With both approaches the role that this type of asset for economic growth is confirmed.
