Abstract

The aim of the present study is to discuss the growing concern over ongoing structural change and the role played by the service economy in relation to the Basque economy. On the basis of the historical distribution of income by provinces, an analysis is made of the behaviour of the services sector and the branches of which it is comprised, using the shift-share technique to discover the weak points in the Basque tertiary sector. Finally, factorial analysis is used to explain the relation batween services and the rest of the production system.
