Information and communication technologies in Poland

Abstract

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have become increasingly central to the economic development of advanced economies. However, access to ICTs is uneven across space to the particular disadvantage of peripheral areas. While a literature has built up around western European policies to counteract such disadvantage, little has been written on experiences in eastern Europe. This note outlines recent ICT developments in Poland and indicates that uneven ICT development over space is also a feature of that country.
