The survival of knowledge : The New Zealand plan

Abstract

Nuclear disarmament in New Zealand is a tool for achieving international telecommunications. This article traces the development of the proposal made by Gordon Hogg in 1985 that New Zealand become a world databank repository. The success of this project would not only justify and strengthen a nuclear-free policy for New Zealand but also stimulate economic, social and political growth. However, although much progress has been made since 1985, four major parties still need to be convinced: politicians, the public, the peace movement and the media.
