Abstract

The authors express their opinion that wave energy may be efficiently used only for “local” purposes and the paper presents two such ways, for using this energy directly and to obtain important ecological effects. The first way consists in using submarine dikes, parallel with the sealine, for which the authors have discovered a new and important property: the wave energy may be used for sand transportation and its consolidation behind the dike. For the Black Sea shore of Romania this effect might be very important because the sea-line is moving continuously towards the land-side and many buildings are in danger. The second way consists in using the wave energy for pumping air in submarine pipe networks and producing bubble curtains which have a good effect for depollution of sea-water in closed aquatoria like harbours or in closed areas specially realised around the outlets of the pipes which are spreading wasted waters into the sea.
