Abstract

This work investigates the in situ co-catalytic pyrolysis of industrial hemp stem (IHS) with rubber seed oil (RSO) under calcined copper slag (CS). Evaluation of thermodynamics, kinetic, gases and pyrolysis oil release guide the design of pyrolysis reactors and the optimization of reaction conditions for catalytic pyrolysis, facilitating high-value disposal of biomass wastes. The catalytic pyrolysis kinetics of pseudo hemicellulose, pseudo cellulose, pseudo triglycerides and pseudo lignin are studied and the Eα are 134.47, 180.39, 183.12 and 291.70 kJ/mol respectively. TG-FTIR results indicate that the gaseous products consist mainly of C2 gas, CH4, CO2 and volatile small molecules containing C=O functional groups (such as acids and aldehydes). Pyrolysis oil from the co-catalytic pyrolysis of sample contain mainly phenolics, oxy-compounds (OCs), alkane, alkene and monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs). Phenolics are mainly produced by lignin cleavage. Besides, the unstable intermediates formed by thermal cracking are broken, dehydrated and recombined to form ketones and alcohols. This work can provide guidance on the harmless and resource utilization of waste copper slag as well as the pyrolysis upgrading of biomass to produce high value-added products.
