Abstract

We have carried out Monte Carlo investigations of the phase transitions and ground-state magnetic structures in two-dimensional compounds described by the Potts model on a triangular lattice. Ground-state magnetic structures versus the ratio of next-nearest and nearest-neighbor exchange interactions J2∕J1 have been obtained. The frustrated areas have been revealed on the phase diagrams plotted for the dependence of the critical temperature on a value of next-nearest neighbor interactions. A phase transition order has been determined for considered values of J2∕J1.
